On Campus at CCE in the next few weeks
Christ Church is blessed with a beautiful campus in the far west end of Richmond, on the corner of Pouncey Tract and N. Gayton Roads. On any given day, the campus is busy with life: people of all ages coming and going for preschool, 12-step support groups, Scout meetings, to play on the playground, to study the Bible in small groups, enjoy fellowship, and much more. The campus includes a worship building, education building, administrative office, memorial garden, and a youth/multi-purpose facility that we call the Garage.
If you are planning a meeting, event, program, or study as part of a Christ Church ministry, please contact the staff/clergy person for your ministry area and that person can reserve facilities for you. Members of Christ Church may request the use of our facilities for personal, private events for a fee and subject to availability and approval by the Rector. Requests can be made up to 3 months in advance and must be made at least three weeks prior to the event.
Christ Church invites community-based non-profit groups to use our facilities at no charge. Please complete the form below or contact our Facilities Manager to apply.
Thank you for contacting us.
We will get back to you within 7-10 business days. Call 804-364-0394 with any further questions.
The Memorial Garden of Christ Church Episcopal is a sacred space where the lives of loved ones are memorialized forever. It is a living garden providing space for reflection and prayer as we remember those commemorated there. Loved ones may be memorialized in three different ways: inurnment of ashes via niche, burial of ashes, or by installing a plaque on the garden wall.
INURNMENT
Cremated remains are placed in a vessel which is then stored in a niche in the columbarium. Each niche is marked with a cast bronze plate bearing the name and dates of birth and death of each inurned person. The ashes of one or two persons may be inurned in a niche.
INTERMENT
Cremated remains are buried in the raised garden bed. Those interred are commemorated with a bronze plaque on the memorial wall, bearing the name and dates of birth and death of the interred person.
PLAQUES
A bronze plaque may also be placed on the memorial wall in memory of individuals whose remains are resting elsewhere.
COMMITTAL
Committal of remains, either through inurnment or interment, are arranged through the clergy of Christ Church and ordered according to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. Please contact our office to make appropriate arrangements for a service of committal.
SETTING ASIDE A SPACE
To set aside a space in the Memorial Garden, please contact the church office to receive a Reservation Request application. The completed application is to be submitted to the Rector, who will review the application and discuss details with the applicant as necessary.
